I’d like share one of my favorite quotes from Zig Ziglar, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.”

Thirty years ago, I had the privilege of meeting Ziglar backstage at an event he was speaking at. I scribbled that quote down as he spoke later that day. He spoke with great passion and energy around:

  • Positive attitudes
  • Overcoming setbacks
  • Building strong relationships for success

No matter your profession or what you want to accomplish, the following short-list is to remind you of what our priorities should be when dealing with people:

  • The two most important words: Thank you
  • The three most important words: All is forgiven
  • The four most important words: What is your opinion?
  • The five most important words: You did a great job!
  • The six most important words: I want to understand you better

At the end of the day, it’s our relationships that matter most. Treasure the people in your life—we only have one passage point with those we love, work with, and serve.
