CEOs Share: “What I Would Have Done Differently”

Gerald Bell, a noted behavioral scientist, asked 70-year-old executives what they would have done differently if they could live their lives over again.

We hear it, but let me remind you:

Life is not a dress rehearsal.

We have to do the best we can in the moment.
We can learn from others and start a proactive plan for tomorrow.

Fred Allen once said,
“You only live once. But if you work it right, once is enough.”

My challenge to you: Select two of the top 8 responses and develop a specific action plan. It may be small but start anyway.

Examples:

  • Set 1-2 new goals— one professional and one personal between now and the end of the year.
  • Set a new health priority. My wife and I just hired new personal trainers.
  • Seek out an investment adviser.
  • Schedule a fun time with your family.
  • Get yourself a new personal development book.
  • Kickstart a new hobby for fun.
  • Do some thinking about your career goals and find a coach, mentor, or trusted advisor.
  • Give back to a cause you care about. Invest your time, your talents, and your blessings.

Here’s to living and leading free of regrets!
