One in 1.3 Million Going from Life-Threatening Cancer to Mini Triathlon

Think about a time when you pushed boundaries in yourself, in business, and in your leadership.

Isn’t it interesting how we are taught to stand in line and follow rules? Most rules are good but others hold us back and limit our full potential. My amazing friend, colleague, and client, Troy Muljat, CEO of the Muljat Group, leads a dynamic company of leaders in the residential and commercial real estate field. Troy leads with passion, innovation, energy, faith, and vision. He has also living a life of navigating near-death… to live again!

A few years ago, Troy was diagnosed with chordoma cancer… a cancer affecting only 1 in 1.3 million. Here are a few statistics about his journey:

  • Troy had a ten-hour surgery just over four years ago (July 31, 2014) where Surgeons removed part of his spine where the cancerous tumor was located.
  • Troy was in the hospital for five weeks and rehab for two years.
  • He used a walker for four months

This was a time of uncertainty, touch and go moments, and dark times for Troy…

With an outpouring of support, prayer, faith, and grit, Troy survived and is now thriving. I have an inspiring update to share actually, Troy recently completed the Lake Padden Recreational Triathlon—a 0.5-mile swim, 10-mile bike, and 2.5-mile run. Pretty amazing!!!

Troy is a living a testimony and is viewed as an inspiring example of “what is possible.”

Leaders who push boundaries:

  • Find a better way, always
  • Push themselves through quitting points
  • Contend to see progress
  • Offer help and vision through dark times

Leaders constantly are asking, “Why do we do it this way? Let’s try this….” Leaders want to take new territory and push boundaries in themselves, their team, and business as a whole.

Thank you, Troy for inspiring my greatness!
