Get Rid of These 12 Excuses and Get on With it!

The world is cluttered with excuses, victims, and small thinkers.

Leaders are different—they root out excuses. They realize vocabulary matters and their worlds lead the way.

I often say, “Give me sixty minutes with a person and I can determine if they are a leader or a follower by their words and their language.”

Get rid of these 12 excuses:
1. “I’ll start in the new year.”
2. “I’ll do it when I have more resources.”
3. “I’ll do it when I have more time.”
4. “I’ll do it tomorrow.”
5. “I’ll do it when I’m not so busy.”
6. “I’ll do it next month when I am not as stressed.”
7. “I’m not ready yet… I’m too inexperienced.”
8. “I’m too old.” (Are you planning to get younger?)
9. “I’m lacking personal confidence.”
10. “I’m not organized enough or have a clear plan yet.”
11. “I’m too tired. I’ll do it when I feel stronger.”
12. “I’m not ‘feeling it’ yet; I will get to it.”

I’ve fallen into the trap of excuses myself. How do you know you are falling into excuse-making?

Ask yourself: Would it stop you from doing something you are passionate about? If it wouldn’t, it’s a lame excuse. Get of it it and get on with it! I challenge and encourage you to take action before you “feel like it.”

Something Rick Warren said really resonated with me, “Act your way into feelings rather than feel your way into action.”

Here’s to getting rid of excuses!
