My championship football coach, Don Matthews, use to say, “The team that plays with emotion wins.” Although that may not always be true, show me a passionate leader who has emotion for what they do daily and I’ll show you a winner!
2. Timeless Principles
What are your five time-tested timeless principles for success? I’ll share mine:

3. Daily Disciplines
Successful people are brilliant in the basics. They show up with uncompromised disciplines. They do what unsuccessful people do only now and then. They implement daily practices that seem simple and basic but add up over time— things like:
- Acting on the right priorities
- Healthy food choices
- Disciplined schedule of purpose
- Keeping of commitments
- Managing finances
- Doing small details
- Keeping their word
4. Teaming Up
The best leaders build great teams. Successful leaders build teams that complement their strengths and share up their weaknesses. They don’t burn-out because they are overwhelmed, they take time and invest in their team members to communicate what success looks like and celebrate success milestones.
