The Eleven Unstoppable Qualities of Intentionality

Larry van Pelt was the running back on our Oregon State High School championship football team. He later went on to Princeton as a co-caption and rushing leader. We used to say, “Give Larry the ball, he’s unstoppable!”

Larry was short, stout, strong, and supremely unstoppable! Are you unstoppable? I’d like to share my eleven unstoppable qualities of intentionality.

Don’t get in a rut, get in a groove!

1. Do it now
Don’t wait for perfect conditions, the business plan, the proposal, the call… insist on starting today
2. Grow
Goals, reality, seize opportunities, push for a way forward.
3. Forget whats behind you
Psychology today reports that nearly 20% of our active thoughts are on yesterday and past regrets. Transformational leaders focus their thoughts on today!
4. Personal drive
My ‘top 5’ values are… faith, family first, hard work, leadership, and have fun. People always smile when they hear me say, “I’m on a one day contract.” because personal drive leads the way! What are your top 5 values?
5. Create a life-plan
Every year, I share my life-plan template and an example of my personal life-plan with the leaders I coach. I try to explain you can’t really have an effective business plan without a life plan.
6. Create good habits
Thoughts, words, health, faith, excellence, generosity, solitude, confidence, discipline, and my favorite habit, making your bed every morning. If you don’t make your bed every morning when you get it, try it, I guarantee it will improve your mindset.
7. Keep your word and follow through
People may admire what you say, they will always respect what you do and how you make them feel.
8. Change your game
Break the muscle memory of your workouts. It keeps life more interesting and helps you break out of ruts.
9. Think like a leader, never a victim
Embrace the unexpected. Don’t moan and complain, be a leader in how your mind thinks. If you seek ease, then be a follower. If you seek leadership then think strong, unstoppable thoughts.
10. Strengthen one character trait
My Pastor use to say, “Charisma will impress others, character gains respects.”
11. Find the good
Always find the good in the day. It will keep you happy and joyful. Look for that unexpected blessing.

You were meant to lead and reach your full potential. Go out of your way this week to be unstoppable. Think of these eleven qualities and pick 2 to focus on this week.
