Dream BIG!

How big are your dreams?

One of my goals in the next year is to take a handful of my clients on a “dream retreat.” I’m convinced that there are significant dreams we allow to lay dormant or toss to the side. Dream-retreats can rekindle and ignite great, purposeful dreams.

It takes time to identify your dreams, and I challenge you to take a moment to define your dreams. Here’s a few things to think about to get you started:

  • Daring Accomplishments in your work and professional career
  • Purpose-driven accomplishments that stretch you and require risk.
  • Family milestones and legacy moments
  • Travel destinations that create adventure and foster fulfillment
  • Great and outstanding people to meet that stretch and challenge you
  • New experiences that you’ve always wanted to try

In John Maxwell’s book, The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth: Live Them and Reach Your Potential, he shares a piece he came across several years ago called ‘dream big.’ It’s full of encouragement and challenges each of us. Maxwell wrote, “If there was ever a time to dare, to make a difference, to embark on something worth doing, it is now. Not for any grand cause necessarily, but something that tugs at your heart, something that’s your aspiration, something that’s your dream. You owe it to yourself to make your days count! Have fun, dig deep, stretch, and dream big. Know, though, that the things worth doing seldom come easy.

Maxwell continued, “There will be good days and there will be bad days. There will be times when you want to turn around, pack it up, and call it quits. Those times tell you that you are pushing yourself, that you are not afraid to learn by trying.

Take some time to dream again… count the costs and just do it! You must make sacrifices and put your heart and soul into you dreams. It may require sacrificing certain things but in the end, dreaming big will be worth it. Your dreams are worth pursuing and living!
