Take Time for Dream Time

The “I have a dream” speech delivered by Civil Rights Activist, Martin Luther King Jr., during the march on Washington for jobs and freedom on August 28, 1963. Martin Luther King Jr. called for an end of racism in the United States of America. He delivered his speech to over 250,000 supporters from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC.

His speech was ranked the top American speech of the 20th century in a 1999 poll of scholars of public address.

Big leadership question: Do you have a dream? Something compelling? Something that draws you into the future with strength and courage?

Leaders, take time to dream. I am not talking about day-dreaming, I’m referring to purpose-driven dreams.

I believe that no matter what “plot” each of our lives and stories may follow, deep in our soul, we all want one thing— for our lives and leadership to matter.

I encourage you to take some time to think of two or three significant dreams for your professional life, as well as your personal life:

  • It might be around a significant breakthrough in business and revenue
  • It may be the pursuit of an entrepreneurial aspiration
  • It may be a dedication to accomplish a physical challenge
  • It may be a purchase, a travel destination, or a BIG milestone— such as writing a book or purchasing an investment property

Don’t let moments and days slip by. We all get 1,440 minutes every day. Invest a few minutes in dream building— dream believing.

I recently released my new book, Splash: 10 Remarkable Traits to Building Momentum in Life and Leadership. A dream! After just 24 hours, my book was an Amazon Bestseller in the U.S., Canada, Australia, U.K., India, and France. I’ve always believed if we take the time to dream and set goals, amazing things will happen.

Your dreams are waiting to become clear in your mind:

  • Give up small thinking and DREAM BIG!
  • Create your dreams in your imagination… visualize it!
  • Trust God to provide resources and the people to partner with you
  • Remember, big dreams attract big people!
  • See yourself in the future, realizing your dreams

Here’s to your dream believing!
