One Powerful Way to Change Your Results Starting Today!

At the close of each day, I try to ask myself these two questions:
1. Who was better today because of me?
2. What did I accomplish of purpose?

For whatever reason, those two questions always seem to put my day into perspective. If I’m not adding value to others lives, and if I’m not accomplishing purposeful work, the day has not been a success.

When people think about your life and your personal presence, do they say to themselves, “My life is better because of you?”

One Powerful Way to Change Your Results Starting Today:
Take your eyes off of yourself and onto others. I remember watching the show Survivor. It didn’t take long to realize it was all about surviving by cutting others out, by manipulating, by positioning, by gossiping, by elevating yourself through cutting others down.

A lot of business professionals treat business, and life, like Survivor— It’s all about them.

I’m going to suggest a different path—  A narrow path, a path less traveled, a rich path, a rewarding path.

When I was in college, Zig Ziglar, the legendary motivational speaker, came and spoke. I sat on the front row and will never forget his iconic quote:

“You get everything in life you want if you help enough other people get what they want.”

How do you do that in an age of self-interest, self-focus, and self-obsession?

You can do it, starting today, by:
1. Do nothing out of vain conceit or selfish ambition
2. Put others first in your thinking
3. Find out what others need
4. Meet others needs with care, excellence, and generosity

I have a long ways to go. I’ve been fortunate to have some wonderful mentors who have modeled servant-leadership and generosity to me.

I couldn’t have asked for better parents— hardworking, humble, and generous.

Let’s walk each day with a new mantra of purpose, “I’ll get everything in life I want if I help enough other people get what they want.”
