Choose to Think Extraordinary Thoughts

Our minds and what we think about are tricky.

It’s easy to allow fear-based thoughts and worry to overtake us. Soon, it’s like a big snowball rolling down a mountain– gaining speed and momentum.

Years ago, I jotted down these statistics from a Psychology Today report about our daily thoughts:

  • We have approximately 60,000 separate thoughts in a single day.
  • 40% are anxious thoughts about our future.
  • 30% are thoughts about our past. Many of which are regrets and failures.
  • 12% of our thoughts are self-doubts and insecurities.
  • 10% are worries about our health.
  • 92% of our thoughts are NOT an accurate picture of reality.

I’m not a psychologist and don’t pretend to be one on TV but I know these as a fact:

  • Our conscious and subconscious thoughts drive our behaviors.
  • Our thoughts determine choices and emotions.
  • Our thoughts direct us toward success and health. They can also lead us toward failure, defeat, and self-sabotage.

The mind is a tricky thing. Rather than being a slave to it, we can control the quality of our thoughts where we channel our energy to find meaning and purpose.
