Seven Success Principles of Self-Leadership - #7 Strong Personal Life

I'm learning to put as much focus and energy on my personal life as I do my professional life. It's important for me to have the love and respect of my wife, children, and now grandchildren. Having a strong personal life is part of my lasting legacy.

"Success is having those closest to me love and respect me the most."

I have found the following to be true for myself, and the leaders I work with:

  • If I can't lead myself, others won't follow me
  • If I can't lead myself, others won't respect me
  • If I can't lead myself, others won't partner with me

If you want to lead up, you must always lead yourself first. You'll build sustainable success. Now that we are at the end of the Success Principles for Self Leadership Series, I would like to know...

What one (or more) self-leadership principles will you be taking with you as to grow your leadership?
